Add to ChromePlay Waffle Game online for free and rearrange scrambled letters to complete six connected five-letter words. You have 15 swaps to turn the entire waffle-shaped grid green.
Unlike a standard word-guessing game, Waffle gives you every letter at the beginning. Your task is to determine where each tile belongs, use the color clues and complete the horizontal and vertical words with as few swaps as possible.

Waffle Game is a letter-swapping puzzle based on six interconnected five-letter words. Three words run horizontally and three run vertically, creating the distinctive waffle-shaped board.
The original Waffle was created by independent developer James Robinson and released in February 2022. Instead of typing possible answers, players rearrange letters already placed on the board. The official rules allow up to 15 swaps, while an optimal solution normally requires 10.
The version displayed on this page is a browser-based Deluxe Waffle variant. It follows the same central mechanics while providing multiple numbered puzzles that can be played without waiting for a new daily board.

Each puzzle begins with letters distributed across a waffle-shaped grid. All the letters required to complete the puzzle are already present, but many of them are in the wrong positions.
To make a move, drag one letter onto another tile. The two letters exchange positions and the number of available swaps decreases by one. Continue rearranging the board until all three horizontal and three vertical words are correct.
Some tiles sit at intersections and belong to both a horizontal and vertical word. These positions are especially important because moving one intersection tile can affect two answers at once.
Every tile belongs somewhere on the board. A neutral tile is not an unused letter; it simply needs to be moved to another location.
You begin with 15 available swaps. A Waffle can normally be solved in 10 swaps when every letter is moved efficiently. The remaining moves provide a simple measure of how directly you reached the solution.
The displayed version also includes numbered puzzles and tracks information such as completed games and winning streaks. Its streak represents consecutive successful puzzles rather than a guaranteed calendar-day streak.
Waffle does not require a physical keyboard because the puzzle is completed by moving tiles already displayed on the board.
Waffle and Wordle both use five-letter words and familiar color feedback, but their gameplay is different. Wordle asks you to type guesses to discover one hidden word. Waffle gives you all the required letters and asks you to rearrange them into six connected words.
| Feature | Waffle Game | Wordle |
|---|---|---|
| Main objective | Rearrange letters into six words | Guess one hidden word |
| Input | Swap existing letter tiles | Type complete words |
| Limit | 15 swaps | Six guesses |
| Layout | Connected horizontal and vertical words | One five-column grid |
Waffle focuses more on placement and intersections, while Wordle focuses on testing complete words against a hidden answer.
Start with a row or column that already contains several green tiles. With fewer empty positions, it is often easier to identify that word and determine where its remaining letters belong.
Completing one word can also clarify an intersection, giving you new information about a crossing answer. However, avoid solving one row by disrupting several nearly completed columns.
Sometimes three letters belong in one another’s positions. Instead of treating each error separately, identify the full cycle before making the first swap.
For example, if one tile needs the letter from a second position, and that second position needs a letter from a third, move them in an order that places one correct letter with every swap. This reduces unnecessary exchanges and protects your remaining moves.
